About Us

Every aspect of Bridge Street Mission centers on equipping individuals who struggle with homelessness, addictions, hunger, and sustaining a stable life so they can become healthy contributors to society.

We hold firmly to the belief that the demonstration of love opens the door to hope and transformation, even for the most wounded person. Our team measures success by the tangible outcomes of spiritual and practical growth: residents growing in Christ, staying active in a local church, maintaining sobriety, cultivating healthy relationships, securing stable housing, and generating income that allows them to stand on their own.

Our History

Bridge Street Mission began with one family's modest response to the urgent needs of men and women in Marathon County who were overwhelmed by homelessness, addiction, and hunger. A small group of believers in Wausau recognized the hurt in their community and committed themselves to demonstrating Christ’s love in tangible, practical ways. This grassroots effort steadily expanded as people found hope through a safe place to stay, a hot meal, and a guiding hand. Over the years, there have been key milestones, such as strengthening residential programs for those needing structure and accountability, establishing addiction recovery support for those striving to break free from destructive cycles, and building a broader network of compassionate volunteers prepared to walk alongside individuals in crisis.

Our Approach

Compassionate Care

At the heart of everything we do is compassion. Whether it’s providing a warm meal or simply listening to someone’s story, we aim to serve others as Christ served us—with empathy and love.

Evangelistic Ferver

We share the good news of forgiveness and salvation in Jesus Christ.  Our desire is for everyone to come to the place of repentance and faith to experience the joy of forgiveness and the purpose of a life of obedience.

Transformational Support

We address not just the surface-level crisis (like hunger or homelessness) but also the deeper struggles—addiction, mental health, and spiritual needs. Our recovery programs and Outreach Center offer a safe path forward for anyone seeking to rebuild their life.

Community Collaboration

Meaningful change happens when the entire community comes together. We partner with local churches, businesses, service organizations, and volunteers to maximize our impact and ensure no one is overlooked. We seek to create a community environment for our residents and seek to connect them to healthy communities of support for their future success.
